MUNICIPAL COURT TO ALTER BUSINESS HOURS

City of Seymour Municipal Court Judge Carl Fisher will alter his daily schedule beginning July 17, 2006. Instead of his customary 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon schedule, he will operate court from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Installment plan payments can still be made with City Hall utility clerks from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. With questions regarding Judge Fisher’s schedule, contact City of Seymour at 889-3148.

DETOUR REQUIRED FOR MCLAIN STREET BRIDGE REPAIR

Motorists are asked to avoid the E. McLain Street Bridge (near City Park) for the next two weeks. City Street Department Superintendent Ronnie Kolacek has determined that the bridge requires extensive work to repair erosion damage and other deterioration. The bridge will be reduced to one lane as long as is safe. Motorist (even EMS personnel/vehicles) are asked to avoid the bridge completely if possible. The most efficient route will be E. Morris Street to get to the City Park, and East Nevada Street to get to the High School/Hospital hill. If you cannot avoid the bridge, remember to watch for flagmen and repair-related signage. Please drive safely.

DOWNTOWN LIGHTS ON TEMPORARY BASES

For a very limited time, the new ‘antique-look’ lighting fixtures will be placed on temporary bases for review/comment by the public. City of Seymour Electric Department personnel have placed these fixtures on the East side of North Washington Street. Please take time to phone concerns or comments about the spacing/height, etc. of the lights to City Hall (889-3148) or to Loving Insurance. The effect of these expensive fixtures should be elegant and inviting for our downtown area. Your opinion counts. Thank you for your assistance.
