Please start today being ‘Water Smart’.

Outside the Home:

Water lawns only when needed. Putting 1.5 inches of water on the grass every
7 days will encourage deep root systems and make for healthier grass.

Use native or adapted plants – they will do well on less water.

Mulch plants to hold in moisture and limit weed growth.

Install efficient irrigation systems. Most importantly, avoid sprinklers with
fine spray – they lose much of their water to wind and evaporation.

Use drip irrigation systems for bedded plants, trees and shrubs.

Adjust automatic sprinkler heads so that they water your landscaping, not pavement.

Water lawns during the early morning or evening hours to prevent evaporation.

Never water on windy days.

In summary, at the City we are keeping close tabs on water usage and the water table.
If any further steps need to be taken, we will notify citizens via local media outlets. Thank you for your assistance.
With questions regarding this, or any other municipal matter, please contact the City of Seymour at 889-3148.

Thank you.
